TLDR : Online Hypnotherapy works, but there are situations where remote work is not possible or at least not advisable. Exactly similar to so many other activities. Being aware of when to seek (and conduct) remote hypnotherapy can help you avoid potential dangers.

It is important to have some basic understanding of how hypnotherapy works. Once that groundwork is clear, you would be in a much better place to decide whether you want to undertake online hypnotherapy or not, both as a client or a therapist.
In a hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist will guide you into a deep meditative state. There are various ways the hypnotherapist will guide you, they will all have one common feature - s/he will be talking to you, obviously. That is first part, the second part is the hypnotherapist needs to see you so that he can effectively guide you along your journey. If these two conditions are met, the session is likely to be successful. There are certain other aspects needed to ensure a fruitful session which I have covered in details here.
With that general overview, one can get a fairly good idea that online 'talk' therapies can and do work. The Covid Pandemic forced so much of mental burden on humanity and online talk therapies came to the rescue. Almost every therapist was completely engaged in taking care of people all around the world. The sheer number of online counselling portals that have come up since Covid, is a testimony to the growing popularity of the medium among clients and therapists alike. There are multiple advantages to Online Hypnotherapy too. For example:-
The comfort of your house. As an introvert, I can testify that this advantage alone is worth so much more than any other.
Access to the Best Hypnotherapists from Around the World. Going online also means you are not limited to 'whatever is available next door'. You can find the best and most qualified hypnotherapist in the country, even in the world. Most of my clients are from other countries and continents.
Efficient Time Management. You do not need to waste time commuting to the therapist's clinic. Depending on the city you live in, just the commute could mean two to four hours lost for a 50 minute session. What a waste! Instead, you can fire up your smartphone and be in session, practically any time of the day. Congratulations, you just saved money for your pocket and carbon emission for the world on the side.
Complete Privacy - No Stigma. All sessions are in the privacy of your home. If you are concerned, no one needs to know what you are doing. I have had clients who did not want it to be publicly known that they were seeking hypnotherapy for their own reasons. If that be you, or someone you know, online hypnotherapy is just the right choice.
Some people might have the notion that hypnosis can only happen in physical presence. This is untrue. Physical presence can help in faster 'induction' and certain modalities do require a physical interaction between the hypnotherapist and the client, however, by no means the only ways to conduct hypnotherapy. As stated earlier, most of the hypnotherapy happens through use of language. As long as the client can clearly hear the hypnotherapist's voice and the therapist can see the required visual cues on the client, hypnotherapy can be conducted.
However, if the client is in severe physical or mental distress, online therapy may not be a good idea. More information on that herehttps://www.manredux.com/post/online-hypnotherapy
