Show Up: Whatever the Heck it Means!

You know, as humans, we all go through moments of doubt and fear, particularly when we're trying something new or pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. But when it comes to achieving our goals and building trust with others, showing up is essential. It's easy to make excuses for not taking action or putting in the effort, but the rewards of showing up can be amazing. So, what's showing up all about? In its simplest form, showing up means keeping your promises and actively fulfilling your commitments. Be it at work, with friends or family, or in your community, showing up is about being present and engaged, even when it's uncomfortable. And why is showing up so darn important? Well, for starters, it builds trust. It builds trust between you and people, and also between you and your body. When you consistently show up and follow through on your commitments, people and your body start to rely on you. They know they can count on you to do what you say you will do, and that kind of reliability is critical in any relationship, personal or professional. When you show up, your body helps you achieve your goals. When you commit to something, whether it's a new project at work or a personal goal, showing up and doing the work is what ultimately leads to success. It's not always easy, but the sense of accomplishment you feel when you achieve your goals makes it all worth it. So, how do you show up? Here are a few tips:

Start small: If you're not used to showing up consistently, begin with something small. Commit to calling a friend every week, or attending a weekly networking event. Once you start building momentum, it'll become easier to take on bigger commitments.

Acknowledge Your Wins: When you do show up, really acknowledge it. It's a small victory. Let every cell in your body know how they came together to make this happen. You might even think of all the things you didn't do. That's normal. Acknowledge that too, with an invitation to every cell in your body to make it happen next time. You'll be surprised.

Make a plan: Before committing to something, ensure you have a plan in place for how you'll follow through. If you're committing to a new project at work, create a timeline or task list to help you stay on track.

Be honest: If you're struggling to follow through on a commitment, be honest with yourself and others. It's better to admit you're having difficulty than to make excuses or avoid the situation altogether.

Hold yourself accountable: One of the most effective ways to show up consistently is to hold yourself accountable. Create a system of rewards and consequences for meeting or missing your commitments. Use your trusted friends or partners' help. Let them know you're trying to improve upon this aspect of your personality. You never know, you might become instrumental in improving their life as well. You can also seek the services of a coach who would help you in improving all aspects of your life.

Stay focused: When you commit to something, it's crucial to stay focused on the end goal. When you feel like giving up or making excuses, remind yourself of why you committed to the task in the first place. Remember, showing up isn't always easy, but the rewards are worth it. By building trust and achieving your goals, you'll create a sense of pride and accomplishment that will spill over into every aspect of your life. So, make a commitment to show up consistently and see how it can transform your life.
